The Elephant & Castle,
JIB are Jim Mageean & Ingrid & Barrie Temple, three terrific singers from the North-East. All have a powerful & extensive repertoire of sea songs & shanties, some traditional & some written by Barrie. They generate mighty, ringing vocal harmonies & are much in demand at maritime & other festivals.
The workshop will cover the North-East's history & vital connection with the sea, illustrated by sea songs – work songs – life & love songs - & why, where & when they were used & sung. An informative, instructive workshop culminating in a big singing session. Audience participation is essential. Teaching will be by ear but dots will be available for those who like to have them. A mixed ability workshop.
